Kelly Hunter was born in New York, the daughter of a NYC firefighter and a mother who chose to serve her family as a homemaker over a business career. Her early years were marked by a sense of wonder and belief in a God who was good.

Although she attended church with her family, somewhere along the way she started believing that if you weren’t perfect, you must be no good and God would punish you.  

By her teenage years and lasting well into her 30’s she had developed a deep distrust of all things religious or having anything to do with God. This rebellious attitude, along with a false sense of independence and pride, made her think that she didn’t need anyone to tell her how to live her life. Living this way eventually caused so much pain that she had to admit just how powerless and unmanageable her life had become.

Humbled and in despair, she turned to God for help.  

Fully expecting to be in deep trouble with God, she was astounded to discover a God who not only didn’t hate her, but who opened his arms wide to enfold her in a loving embrace.  

Over time she gradually opened to the beauty and serenity of living life on God’s terms rather than her own; she no longer felt ashamed of who she was, and her test became her testimony.

In 1983, Kelly moved to the beautiful mountains of Colorado to start a new life following the death of her first husband. She has led numerous retreats for women’s groups and volunteered with the women’s ministries at church. She has taught children and managed non-profits for senior citizens and church camps, but the job she found most interesting was as museum director of a castle.

A lover of the arts and culture, the #1 item on her bucket list is travel.  Her son and grandson are her greatest joys. Her faith, family, and friends are her greatest treasures.

Her book, Wings of the Morning, is a testament to her walk with God - shoulder to shoulder with her through all the ups and downs of life
